From 1972 to 1974 he served in the US Air Force and then completed his Urology Residency in 1977 at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He practiced General Urology as a member of State College Urologic Associates from 1977 to 2009.
His intention as a member of the Board of the Dyslexia Reading Center is to help increase the awareness of and availability of help for others who struggle with dyslexia.

Katharine Donnelly Adams is the Director of Teaching and Learning at Reading Futures. Prior to joining Reading Futures, Dr. Donnelly Adams was an Assistant Teaching Professor of Psychology at Penn State. Early in her teaching career, she was a Research Teacher for dyslexic and struggling readers at Benchmark School with Dr. Irene Gaskins and at Tufts University with Dr. Maryanne Wolf. She helped to develop the Benchmark Word Detectives and RAVE-O programs in these positions. Although she no longer is in practice, she values the education she received in evidence-based decision-making. Amy was familiar with dyslexia due to family members' experiences. When her child exhibited signs of a reading disability she was thankful for the Center. Now she is grateful to serve in the interests of other students.

philosophy and religious studies degree. She moved to California after graduation and
subsequently pursued a career in clothing design. She worked for eight years as a
